Coming from an Italian and Serbian family, Aleks's culinary journey began at an early age, standing on chairs to help stir. He went on to work professionally in top end restaurants in Spain, Germany before opening La Bete and later Spaghetti Western in Seattle.
This traditional German vinegar and vegetable stock based potato salad, with a mix of buttery yukon gold potatoes, baby spuds and chopped pickles, scented with dill, caraway and a touch of mustard, reminds me of my moms salad that she often used to prepare when we would fire up the grill on sunny Sunday Michigan afternoons... ahhh, the good old days!
