Description

Traditional Japanese Tsukune balls made without meat, but with all of the flavor. Served with dashi rolled egg, bok choy gomaae and steamed rice, this is a well-balanced, flavorful vegetarian meal!

Ingredients

lotus root tofu teriyaki meatless balls (lotus root, tofu, green onion, shiitake, ginger, egg white, cornstarch, soy, rice wine, sugar, shichimi chili powder), rolled egg (egg, vegetarian dashi, salt, sugar), bok choy gomaae (baby bok choy, toasted sesame, soy, rice wine, vinegar, sugar), rice

I am updating this review to say that the meal was excellent and I would order it again. The flavors were wonderful and the portion was just right.

Giving a 3 star because of inconsistency issues - the first time I had this it was great, though the meatballs were overly mushy, soft tofu consistency (an odd texture for 'meatballs'). The egg, the first time, tasted like tamago you'd get at a restaurant. The gomaae had a good amount of sesame.

This week, the tamago tastes flat out like scrambled egg (clearly not enough sugar in it), the meatballs are a better consistency, and the gomaae has almost no sesame and is watery/bitter.

The score would be higher if consistency improves.
