Description

A grilled split Cornish game hen, brushed with a clover honey and balsamic glaze, is served with fresh spinach mashed potatoes and Merlot braised cabbage. Cornish game hens originated as a cross between game birds and domesticated chickens, resulting in a plumper, more succulent bird perfect for a single serving.

Ingredients

Cornish game hen (cornish hen, clover honey, balsamic vinegar), spinach mashed potatoes (spinach, garlic, canola oil, vegetable stock, salt, black pepper potatoes), cherry tomatoes, Merlot braised cabbage (red and green cabbage, onion, canola oil, fennel seeds, black pepper, salt, Merlot, veg stock)

Meal was very good in general. It should be noted that there is a significant amount of garlic in the spinach mashed potatoes.

This was a most satisfying dinner of tender Honey-Balsamic Cornish Hen I've had from a pre-made meal. I'd order this again. Well worth the price!

Great flavors. The spinach mashed potatoes were very tasty. Nice sized portion. Could've had just a bit more of the veggies though.

did not enjoy this dish. I found the game hen to be rubbery

The hen was soft and tasty, but it needed more of the sauce. Didn't really care for the spinach mash, felt more like eating liquid greens versus a creamy potato side. And the veggies were very raw and hard, without seasoning.

It was good but I didn't love the potato mash

Very little meat on the game hen. Proportions seemed super off - tons of spinach mashed potatoes, one cauliflower, two baby carrots and grape tomatoes, and one broccoli floret, with 1/2 game hen. Pretty disappointing.

Not enough veggies and the hen was not as flavorful as I had hoped.

Meat was a little hard to manage for lunch. An entire cornish hen is a little too much for each person for lunch, but cutting them up is hard, too. Boneless meat is easier and preferred.
