This papaya salad is one of the most popular dishes in Thailand. It's low in calories and fat but very high in taste and satisfaction, combining savory, sweet, and sour with a touch of heat—perfect for a hot and warm weather day! Served with a side of coconut rice.

papaya salad (green papaya, carrot, celery, tamarind sauce, fish sauce, sugar, lime juice, shrimp, peanuts, tomatoes, green beans, pecans, sunflower seeds), coconut rice (jasmine rice, coconut milk, salt)

Very good flavor. A bit tough to chew. A lot of work to eat--but so good for you.

Surprisingly excellent. I make Som Tom (Thai version of green papaya salad) at home. This version is not hard core Thai, and that is ok! Because what it is, is excellent. Very nicely cooked shrimp, fresh and crunchy papaya, ripe tomatoes, and a refreshing dressing that is not heavy on fish sauce (which I love), but nonetheless very yummy. I think Chef Jirapol created a well balanced salad that most will really enjoy.
