Description

Vegan Étouffeé served with rice, Creole salad with a vegan Creole vinaigrette, and cornbread. Étouffeé literally means "smothered"- which this dish is, in Creole sauce!

Ingredients

We love Jemil, this is one of the best salads we get from Lish and we've missed this chef dearly. I heard there building got bought out and had to relocate (stupid rent hikes!) and so I'm really glad they were able to relocate instead of shutting down. I personally love to support this Black owned business, especially in times like these.

Food was delicious! This is one of our office’s favorite meals (I think this was our third time having it) and it always goes over very well. Not sure why, but it seemed like there was a little less of the main entrees and sides this time. We ran out of catfish very quickly, but that’s always popular, and ran out of plain white rice as well (we have lots of non-pork eaters, as well as vegetarians, who couldn’t eat the jambalaya). We had just enough chicken and etouffee. Left overs weren’t too bad this time. We’d still like to try to halve the bread and salad portions, since that’s mostly what ends up being left over (see pictures). I didn’t try the hushpuppies, but others seemed to like them. The Valentine’s Day cookies were also a great touch!

Wow. SO spicy! Almost unbearably spicy, and I'm not a big wimp when it comes to spiciness. Would have loved this if I'd been able to control the spice level a bit.
